Effective thermal properties at the fluid-porous medium interfacial region: Role of the particle-particle contact

  • Equilibrium and non-equilibrium thermal models are studied using the method of volume averaging in the neighborhood of the boundary that separates a porous medium and a fluid.

  • The spatial variations of several effective transport coefficients from one medium to the other were numerically computed.

  • Particle-particle contact plays an important role specially when physical properties of phases are clearly different.
