  • In this study it was observed that there is a basal production of laccases of Pleurotus ostreatus.

  • It appears that the number of laccase isozyme either intracellular or extracellular is species dependent.

  • This could be a rapid and preliminary tool to differentiate species of Pleurotus.

  • The enzyme activity is different even if it is of the same species and consequently even if is the same number of isoenzymes

  • The number and activity of laccases extracellular isozymes in species of Pleurotus is greater than than those observed intracellularly
