  • SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio of mordenite is the key factor defining interaction of Ni2+ cations with zeolite framework.

  • Ni species formed on mordenite with low molar ratio are weakly bound with mordenite.

  • As a consequence, easy red-ox transformation of such a species results in the activation of propene pyrolysis with formation of carbon nanostructures as well as in high catalytic activity in NO reduction.
