Operation and design of a liquid fluidized bed classifier for polydisperse suspensions of equal-density solid particles through modeling and simulation

  • A. niger grew on agar plates with fixed maximal density and decreasing yields con σ0 = (substrate concentration)/(support specific area).

  • Variable σ0 allows normalization of biomass yields.

  • Extrapolated yield for vanishing σ0 was equal to the maximal reported value in aerobic condition.

  • Maximal mycelial surface production (large σ0) is an index of culture productivity.
