Toluene combustion on Pd and Pt catalysts supported on γ-Al2O3 and γ-Al2O3-Ce

  • For Pd/γ-Al2O3-Ce catalysts the toluene combustion activity depended on the presence of Pd0/Pd2+ species.

  • On Pt/γ-Al2O3-Ce catalysts, Pt0 was the only detected species, which favored the demethylation of toluene.

  • For both series of Pd and Pt catalysts, the deposit of carbon on the metal decreased as the cerium oxide increased due to their redox properties.
