The interfacial properties of cholesterol have biological relevance, but have been scarcely studied.
ADSA was applied to captive bubbles in a liquid/liquid system for evaluating interfacial properties of cholesterol.
Cholesterol showed surfactant properties in the different solvents used, with marked variations of the contact angle.
A spontaneous crystallization of cholesterol below saturation is observed in all samples.
The experimental data of surface tension showed good correlation with those obtained through Szyszkowski-Langmuir model.
