UPSCALED MODEL FOR DISPERSIVE MASS TRANSFER IN A TUBULAR POROUS MEMBRANE SEPARATOR

  • The average equations for oxygen separation in a shell and tube permeator were developed.

  • The equations are expressed in terms of effective-medium coefficients that capture the essential features of the microscale and can be computed analytically.

  • When comparing the concentration profiles with direct numerical simulations it was noted that the average model is valid if the imposed assumptions and constraints are respected.

  • The derived model will be used in future works for comparison with experimental data.
