Solution approach with Green's functions for predicting the concentration of the slurry within a stirred tank reactor with nonlinear kinetics

  • The dynamics of a slurry CSTR are described by means of the analytical solution of an initial and boundary-value problem for the concentration in the fluid and dispersed phases.

  • Nonlinear reaction kinetics is considered and consequently the solutions are implicit and the evaluation requires an iterative solution scheme.

  • It is shown that identical form of the formal solution can be achieved by different approaches.

  • The available numerical results are as good as the ones obtained using finite difference schemes.
