  • The fermented broth from Pleurotus sp. CBT1 showed a lignin degradation in the fique spall of 65.2%.

  • The increase in the proportion of the cellulose confirms the selective lignin degradation in fique spall.

  • The fermented broth of Pleurotus sp. CBT1 decreased the initial lignin content of 14.1% to 4.9%.

  • The proposed methodology allows an increase in the cellulose content of 61.8% to 73.1% after treatmen.

  • The presence of lignin and the cellulose absence in the culture medium redirected the metabolism of the microorganisms.
